Overview

If you wait until you turn 18, you must complete three steps to earn your driver's license. First, you are required to take the California Provisional Licensing exam. To pass, you must receive a score of 30/36. Next, you must practice for your driving test. Finally, you must pass the California Behind the Wheel exam. Once passed, you are officially a licensed driver. There is no provisional period if you are over 18. This process is complicated, but we have more in-depth information about the steps.
